Houston, Tex.—Symon Communications, Inc. has announced the release of OPIE (Symon’s OPC Client). It is an OPC (OLE for process control) 2.0 client that communicates with OPC servers to generate and send messages to Symon Communications’ Symon2000 messaging system. OPC consists of a standard of interfaces, properties and methods for use within process control and automated manufacturing applications. Based on Microsoft’s COM and DCOM technologies, OPC provides a common interface for communicating with diverse process control devices, regardless of the controlling software or devices in the process. OPIE uses this standard interface to optimize its flexibility in interfacing with various process control devices. This product gives the user the ability to manage rapidly changing events in the production and manufacturing of products.
