New revision of simulation software platform
Invensys Operations Management has released the newest version of its SimSci-Esscor PRO/II simulation software, a steady-state process simulator used to design, analyze, and improve chemical processes and help industrial users achieve productivity excellence.
“Process engineers today have more and more demands on their time,” said Joseph McMullen, SimSci-Esscor PRO/II product manager, Invensys Operations Management. “Version 9.0 of our PRO/II software includes a powerful user interface and a host of new features designed to make the application more customizable, which significantly reduces the learning curve for new users and makes existing users more effective. Key productivity improvements include conditional formatting to readily identify different process stream properties; customizable tabs that allow easy sorting of unit operations by type; new dockable windows; and improved toolbars, which provide faster access to a broader range of selections and data. The software’s simulation capabilities extend the functionality of our InFusion Enterprise Control System, enabling real-time decision making and collaboration across people, processes and assets.”
Invensys says that version 9.0 lowers the cost of ownership by supporting Microsoft App-V for application virtualization, allowing better use of existing computer hardware resources. Simulation capabilities have also been enhanced through a significant update of the thermodynamic correlations, including a link to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Reference Fluid Thermodynamic and Transport Properties (REFPROP) application. The database provides critical property values needed to evaluate fluids and optimize related equipment and processes.
“Users of SimSci-Esscor PRO/II 9.0 software will benefit from the many improvements we have made,” McMullen added. “Experienced users will be able to readily customize their applications to better match their solution needs and their computing environments, and new users will become effective users faster.”
