Norgren merges with Syron; new CNC software; proximity sensor

Norgren combined with Syron Engineering and Manufacturing LLC for global integration of tooling systems for the automotive stamping press market and adjacent in-plant automotive processes. Syron has sites in Saline and Troy, MI, and 25 current patents in tooling technology, Norgren said. Customers will gain an extended product range and service capability encompassing die design, end-of-arm tooling, transfer fingers, double blank protection systems, crossbar tooling, steel faced sensors, clamps, grippers, and pneumatic equipment.

Siemens ShopMill 6.4 is said to feature easy, step-by-step, on-screen programming that enables job shops to quickly respond to customer demands by drastically reducing programming, tooling, and production times. The software can be used with the Sinumerik 810D or 840D CNC running Microsoft Windows XP.

TT electronics Optek Technology developed a packaged optical reflective switch capable of detecting the presence or absence of objects up to 24-in. (610 mm). Designated the OPB720 Series, the reflective sensor enables engineers to incorporate opto-electronic sensing capability into machines at a lower cost than traditional proximity sensors, the company says.
