Norwood Manufacturing Plant obtains official API 547 Monogram certification
Siemen’s Norwood Manufacturing Plant was certified to use the API 547 Monogram, in conformance with API specifications for design, manufacture of electric motors.
Siemens Industry’s Norwood motor manufacturing plant has been certified by the American Petroleum Institute to use the Official API 547 Monogram. In addition to the API Monogram, Siemens Quality Management System has been assessed by API, and found to be in conformance with API Specifications Q1 and ISO/TS 29001 for the design and manufacture of electric motors.
Siemens is currently producing motors that meet the demanding API 541 and API 547 specifications in an ISO 9001 certified environment.
The Norwood Motor Facility, originally built in 1898, was the first manufacturing facility in Norwood, Ohio and is one of Siemens’ oldest manufacturing facilities in the world. In 2006, Siemens invested more than $35 million in the facility, earning Plant Engineering’s Top Plant Award in 2009. The Norwood plant is now a “Global Motor” research and technology development center, contributing to enhancements in Siemens motors sold throughout the world.
Employing more than 400 people, the Norwood plant is dedicated to developing, assembling and testing large electric motors that are used in metals, mining, oil and gas, as well as factory automation.
“Our API certification validates the commitment that our organization has to manufacturing high-quality products, and ensuring that systems are in place to maintain the highest levels of production quality at our facility,” says Mark Cooksey, Business Unit Manager at the Norwood plant.
“As the number one provider of electric motors worldwide, Siemens is dedicated to being a leader in industrial productivity, energy efficiency, and service.”
