Charlottesville, VA – GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has received certificates of compliance from PLCopen, the independent organization that focuses on the harmonization of control programming around IEC 61131-2, representing various industries and seeking to drive more efficiency in industrial automation through creating specifications and implementations in engineering programming language. The company fulfilled the requirements in PLCopen Compliance Procedure for Motion Control Library V. 1.1 and PLCopen Compliance Procedure for Motion Control Part 2– Extensions, Version 1.0.According to Paul Derstine, motion product manager for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, “It’s all about engineering efficiency. Customers will be able to use open standards-based programming functionality. This will decrease any learning curve, and speed up the time to market for their new products or projects.” PACMotion allows engineering communities already familiar with IEC languages to quickly integrate motion control into existing programs and to develop new programs in the most efficient way.PACMotion uses GE Fanuc Intelligent Platform’s Proficy Machine Edition, an integrated programming environment for machine logic, motion, and HMI in a single program, which allows developers to use common tag databases, common scripting, and eliminate synchronization logic between separate programs. Features such as motion function blocks have been added to Proficy Machine Edition supporting PACMotion. Also read: PACMotion controller serves complex motion applications .–  Control Engineering Register here .
