Houston, TX— To create a broader customer base and strengthened product portfolio, PAS and Dynamic Optimization Technology (Dot) Products Inc. announced Oct. 13 that they’ve agreed to merge. Organizers say complementary assets of the two companies will lead to accelerated presence and momentum of the merged company in the process industry. PAS provides automation asset management and critical condition management solutions.

‘As a leading global provider of plant reliability solutions, we enable our customers to increase their return on assets by mitigating abnormal situations and accelerating plant uptime,’ says Eddie Habibi, PAS’ CEO and founder. ‘With this merger, we are uniquely positioned to offer an integrated plant reliability and production optimization solution that enables our customers to maximize their shareholder value.’

Habibi remains CEO of the newly expanded PAS, while Dr. A.M. (Mike) Morshedi, Dot’s founder, will become PAS’ chief scientist. Dot’s technologies, including Star, Nova and NLC, will form the core of PAS’ advanced process modeling and control solutions. The participants say their merger will enable PAS to offer customers the industry’s most complete and field-proven so-lutions for maximizing process asset performance.

‘Dr. Morshedi has been and continues to be one of the thought leaders in the highly specialized area of advanced process modeling and control,’ adds Habibi. ‘The combination of solutions offered by PAS and Dot Products will provide the most comprehensive set of solutions available to the industrial process industries for empowering people and driving assets.’

Morshedi says that, ‘Dot Products has been at the forefront of developing and delivering Advanced Process Modeling and Control solutions to the industrial process industries for over a decade. The merger with PAS is a strategic step forward. Our team can now focus efforts on developing the next generation of process modeling technologies in conjunction with broader PAS solutions.’

Founded in 1993, PAS pioneers solutions for process industries that provide automation IP as-set inventory; management of change, integrity management and system engineering services. Also, PAS has been instrumental in defining and promoting solutions in critical condition man-agement that provide alarm management; operator advisory systems; performance metrics man-agement; abnormal situation detection; and diagnosis and loop performance optimization. PAS channel partners include Honeywell, ABB and Invensys.

Founded in 1989, Dot’s Star product is a linear, multivariable control technology with features and capabilities that the firm reports are still unavailable in any competing product. Dot adds that Star has been field proven over the last decade with more than 300 applications to date. Dot’s ad-vanced process modeling system, Nova, has been applied in more than 100 applications to provide sophisticated real-time process optimization solutions to industrial process plants.
