Groundbreaking ceremonies for PCT Engineered Systems LLC officially launched construction of the company’s 43,000 sq ft facility expansion.

Davenport, IA— Construction of PCT Engineered Systems LLC ‘s new facility got underway early this month with a groundbreaking ceremony for the 43,000 sq ft expansion. The plant is being built in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center in northwest Davenport. The company expects to be in its new accommodations early next year.

The new building will provide more manufacturing space and allow for workflow improvements. Growth has been fueled by PCT’s recent acquisition of the BroadBeam line of electron beam processors. Products made with electron beam technology include shrink-wrap film, adhesive tape, orange juice cartons, ice cream containers, and laminate furniture. The process offers environmental advantages in that it uses inks and coatings that contain no solvents, and therefore produces no volatile organic compounds. It is also energy efficient.

“Building the new facility is one of the most significant developments in our 20-year history,” said Terry Thompson, president of PCT. “This expansion project represents our strong commitment to the growth of our company and will allow us to provide better service to our customers.”

The project is receiving financial support from a variety of sources. These include the state of Iowa, the city of Davenport, the bi-state revolving load fund, eastern Iowa Community College District Iowa new jobs training program, and the Greater Davenport Re-development Corp. PCT also provides engineering and manufacturing services in the areas of control system integration, drive system applications, custom machine fabrication, combustion systems, and plant floor IT applications.
