PLC architecture has DCS functionality
A2 T2550 distributed control system from Invensys Foxboro combines control and I/O technology in an expandable base plate or chassi.
Foxboro, MA — Foxboro A2 T2550 system from Invensys Foxboro combines process controllers and I/O devices into an expandable base plate (or chassis), providing a powerful, low-cost, stand-alone or networked DCS solution. An alternative for smaller applications, the controller lets multi-loop process control capability be deployed at the process unit. Easily integrated into a control or plant network, it will continue to control a process even if a network link is lost. Combined with optional controller redundancy, the product economically offers a high degree of fault tolerance.Controller is the first product in the Foxboro A2 line to bundle process control and I/O functionality in a compact, field-mountable base plate and termination assembly. Each unit accommodates up to two process controllers, which can operate in a simplex or optional redundant mode. System can house up to 16 I/O cards that can be replaced live and under power, without disturbing field wiring or other I/O devices.T2550 supports high-density packaging of a broad range of analog and digital I/O device types. Controllers can be mixed or matched to meet specific needs. Control strategies are configured graphically using IEC-61131 tools, including function block, sequential function charts, structured text, and PID and advanced regulatory control. A library of pre-constructed function blocks is also available to facilitate application development.
