Schaumburg, IL; Buffalo Grove, IL —New power supplies for automation applications have been introduced by two major manufacturers.
S8VM power supply from Omron includes an undervoltage alarm that signals when voltage falls and indicates the cause so that operators can troubleshoot the problem quickly onsite. The feature eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly searches for power loss causes. The unit uses combinations of LEDs to indicate whether the voltage loss is due to a momentary power interruption, an overload, or a drop in the power supply itself from aging. Compact device is available in ratings from 15-150 W and voltage capacities from 5-24 V dc. It can operate at 100% load rate at temperatures of 50 °C. S8VM meets global environmental and safety standards, including no lead material contents to conform to RoHS directives. It is suitable for continuous improvement OEM applications where equipment design requires a compact, reliable power supply.
SPD Series switching power supplies from Carlo Gavazzi are high efficiency, DIN-rail-mount devices that offer a wide range of output wattages and voltages for low-power electrical or electronic devices. Compact units feature power ratings from 5-240 W, and universal 90-265 V ac or 120-370 V dc supply voltages. Diagnostic LEDs alert the user when output voltage is ready for use and if output voltage is too low. All models have a potentiometer for fine-tuning the dc output voltage.
