Pressure instrumentation can suffer when exposed to high temperatures, vibration, EMI, high pressures, high cycle counts, and little maintenance. Measurement Specialties now offers its M5100 series of pressure transducers, which it says is designed to operate reliably, for a long time, even in all those adverse conditions.

Among pressure sensing technologies, strain gage designs are known for ruggedness and ability to handle high pressures, but they are sensitive to temperature displacement. Measurement Specialties provides internal sensing to compensate for changes in temperature to remain within the prescribed error band over a range of -40 to 125 °C (-40 to 255 °F).

The M5100 case is also reportedly rugged. The welded can and encapsulated cable seal reportedly pass immersion tests even with a damaged or cut cable. A wide variety of inlet connections are available along with a selection of output signal options. Pressure ranges start at 0-50 psi and extend to 0-10,000 psi.
