Process execution software for aerospace and defense upgraded

By Control Engineering Staff December 8, 2005

Intercim has released Velocity 4.2 process execution software, which is said to provide expanded execution capabilities for aerospace and defense component fabrication, sub- and final assembly, for avionics and mission-critical compliance control customers.

Velocity 4.2 is Intercim’s Web-based, commercial off the shelf system that provides the traditional benefits of MES—cost savings, cycle-time reductions and greater operational efficiencies—as well as extended technology to simplify communications and boost confidence in data accuracy.

Customers scheduled to implement the new release include Bell Helicopter and other major aerospace manufacturers.

Built with enhanced precedence control, Velocity 4.2 software is said to enable customers to configure‘can’t-fail’ processes, which, in turn, ensures process control and data accuracy. “The customer’s ability to configure process-specific rules will simply not allow inaccuracies,” said Paul Meyer, vice president business development. “That enables true, seamless end-to-end product life cycle management.”

In addition to quality and emergent process components, the newest version of Velocity includes interconnectivity to leading PLM systems, including 2-D and 3-D model and planning support systems.
