ProcessLinx simplifies DCS upgrades

Milwaukee, Wis. – Rockwell Automation recently introduced ProcessLinx OPC, a server-to-server communication software that allows users to replace legacy DCS consoles with ProcessLogix stations. ProcessLinx OPC interface performs as an OPC client to the ProcessLogix OPC server. It also performs client duties for external OPC servers. Interfacing a legacy DCS to ProcessLogix requires creating a ProcessLinx tag map that relates an OPC item on the ProcessLogix server to the corresponding OPC item on the legacy DCS system’s OPC server. ProcessLinx supports local and remote OPC servers, bi-directional data flow, and supervisory control between the ProcessLogix OPC server and other control systems. ProcessLinx is said to be fully compliant with OPC versions 1.0 and 2.0 servers.
