ProMat 2003: Transbotics launches fork-style LGV
Chicago, IL—Transbotics Corp. (Charlotte, NC) released Feb. 10 at ProMat 2003 its new fork-style, laser-guided vehicle (LGV), which has both counterbalanced and reach lift capabilities. Transbotics was previously known as NDC Automation Inc.
Chicago, IL— Transbotics Corp.
The company reports that its fork-style LGV uses the latest LaserWay technology, which recognizes round reflectors to continuously position itself within the system. These round reflectors provide greater accuracy and flexibility than flat reflectors because they are easier to recognize, which eliminates false readings. The new vehicle is also equipped with laser safety bumpers that can dynamically vary in the field of safety depending on system requirements. While this vehicle was designed to meet the customers’ specifications for handling loads up to 3,000 pounds, it can be customized to handle loads of many different sizes and weights.
The LGV will be a part of a system using C-Way software. Transbotics reports that this software is important when considering a whole solution because C-Way creates a graphical view of the system, which allows for easier monitoring. Color-coding makes it simple to quickly view vehicle status, such as location, vehicle load, low battery, e-stopped, etc. In addition, status from I/O units connected to the system allows for display of open doors or the presence of a load at a station. C-Way not only allows the user to make layout changes easily, but also can page an operator with predefined system messages.
‘This vehicle was designed for a North American bottling manufacturing company. However, we believe this vehicle can be used in many different industries,’ says Claude Imbleau, Transbotics’ president.
