Quatech debuts serial device server for Ethernet

Hudson, OH— To complement its ThinQ serial-to-Ethernet solutions, Quatech recently launched its SSE-410D to expand its line of serial device servers. The company adds this latest release gives it a complete range of qualified solutions for serial-to-Ethernet applications.

SSE-410D meets specifications required to support a large number of serial device-to-network applications. It is switch-selectable for RS-232, 422 and 485, and supports data rates up to 230 K. It ships with direct driver support for Windows 98, Me, NT4, 2000 and XP. SSE-410D can also be accessed using standard TCP/IP socket commands, and supports serial tunneling applications.

Other features include an auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet interface; UDP client/server modes; Heartbeat connection to automatically reconnect to networks as needed; Telnet support, and for added security; the ability to reject connections from all but one defined IP address.

In other news, Quatech announced availability of its SSE-200/300D, a new addition to its ThinQ serial device servers. This is a RS-422/485-to-Ethernet, single-port serial device server that supports data rates up to 921K, and can be configured for either RS-422 or RS-485 communication in full-duplex or half-duplex, two-wire or four-wire modes. Similar to the rest of the ThinQ line, it is based on Motorola’s digital dna technology, and uses a PowerPC processor.
