Real-time SCADA solution for OT, IT applications
Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Process Solutions’ (HPS) Experion Elevate is a real-time process supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solution delivered as a secure and scalable service. Experion Elevate allows for predictable costs, easy upgrades, and continual support. It is a member of Honeywell’s suite of cloud-enabled solutions for operations technology and information technology (OT/IT). HPS made the announcement at its annual Honeywell Users Group symposium. Experion Elevate is designed to allow industrial organizations to leverage operational expenditures (OPEX) over capital expenditures (CAPEX) wherever possible. It is also designed to provide flexible and scalable SCADA options that are suitable for different operations. Experion Elevate provides a scalable, integrated multi-service system with a human-machine interface (HMI). The use of Honeywell’s distributed system architecture (DSA) allows multiple SCADA servers to operate as one within a single asset or across the enterprise and enables global access to points, alarms, interactive operator control messages, and history.
Use of the cloud can lower the total installed cost of SCADA installations. While residence in the cloud is already common for enterprise-business and customer relationship management solutions it is still relatively rare in process production.
"That will change quickly," Vimal Kapur, president of Honeywell Process Solutions, said during his keynote presentation at the 2017 Honeywell Users Groups Americas event, Knowledge. "Cloud-based SCADA can reduce the implementation time to a few weeks as compared to 8 to 10 months."
"It doesn’t matter where the control system is located. Field operators are using tablets and smart phones to view SCADA output in the field," said Paul Vellacott, a Honeywell product marketing manager. "The ability to upgrade cloud-based applications is significant. Already, Experion Elevate is equipped with upgraded features not yet available for on-premise systems."
