Repair or replace? End-users, integrators get more repair options

By Control Engineering Staff October 5, 2006

If capital budgets to replace equipment are unavailable, tapping into operating and maintenance budgets for repairs can be another viable option. Also, reducing complexity of repair vendors can ease maintenance responsibilities by simplifying the question: “Who’s responsible for what?” End-users and system integrators have the option of fixing equipment through expanded Schneider Electric repair services, for more than 120,000 products from more than 2,500 manufacturers. Telemecanique Automation and Control Repair Services has expanded its business and reportedly now offers enough breadth to single-source repair or replacement of an automation and control equipment line, regardless of manufacturer.

Expanded services provide industrial end-users with one-source service for electronic repair, including products from multiple vendors of ac and dc drives, servo motors and motors, HMIs, automation equipment, PLCs, metering, and other equipment. Standard repairs are completed in seven business days, and standard exchanges completed in one business day. A warranty is offered on repaired or exchanged products, beyond the product’s repaired portion; and access to an inventory of refurbished equipment from all major manufacturers.
