Robotic expansion: Transbotics partners with Kuka
Facility infrastructure developer Transbotics entered a “Systems Partner Agreement” with robotic-arm maker Kuka Robot Group. The agreement allows Transrobotics to offer Kuka industrial robots to customers as part of the company’s Tailor Made automated handling systems.
For 25 years, Transrobotics has specialized in the design, development, support and installation of automation solutions with emphasis on automatic guided vehicle (AGV) technology. As a complete automation solutions company, the firm manufactures, installs and supports various automation technologies, including AGVs, robots, conveyors, batteries, chargers, motors, and other related products for a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace/defense, food and beverage, paper, publishing, entertainment, microelectronics, plastics, and primary metals.
Headquartered in Augsburg, Germany, Kuka Robot Group is said to rank among the world’s leading suppliers of industrial robots. The company lists core competencies as development, production and sale of industrial robots, controllers, software and linear units. The company claims to be the market leader in Germany and Europe, and number three in the world. The firm employs about 1,750 people worldwide, with 1,200 in Germany, at company headquarters in Augsburg, or at various subsidiaries. In 2005, sales totaled 324 million Euro, and more than 20 subsidiaries provide a presence in the rest of Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
