RoHS compliance continues: Contemporary Controls

By Control Engineering Staff January 5, 2006

Contemporary Controls is among companies shifting to lead-free manufacturing, for its sites in the U.S., Europe, and China. The European Union says that member states shall restrict use of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment by July 2006.

A second directive, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), seeks to reduce disposal of related waste and encourage reuse, recycling, and other forms of recovery. All of its new-product development efforts result in lead-free products, Contemporary Controls says. As with many firms, the company offers a RoHS-compliant product roadmap, so customers can ensure timely transition or migration to a different product, if needed, or as practical.
