Emerson Processes’ Rosemount Analytical division recently introduced the Model 5081 transmitter, a configurable second-generation FOUNDATION fieldbus (FF) or two-wire HART compatible transmitter suitable for pH, conductivity, or amperometric measurements. Using HART and FF digital communications protocols permits remote setup configuration via Emerson Processes’ Asset Management Solutions and other host applications.

The Model 5081A amperometric transmitter can measure dissolved oxygen, free chlorine, total chlorine and ozone in a variety of process liquids. Because the Model 5081A is fully configurable, customer spare transmitter inventories can be minimized. When used in free chlorine pH measurements, the Model 5081A permits automatic or manual corrections to adjust for amperometric sensor response. The Model 5081A overcomes the messy and expensive sample condition and acidification requirements by measuring and using the sample pH to correct the chlorine sensor signal. The Model 5081P features automatic buffer recognition and stabilization check. Glass impedance diagnostics warn of an aging or failed pH sensor.
