Schneider Electric puts HMI in a browser, expands industrial PC family

Schneider Electric ’s Telemecanique brand has introduced several new products with enhanced HMI capabilities. They include an evolution of its Web-enabled Transparent Ready products that puts HMI in a browser, and two new Magelis industrial PCs: a thin client for Ethernet architectures and a unit for embedding in compact machines or enclosures.
Telemecanique FactoryCast module from Schneider Electric embeds HMI capabilities in a PLC.
Telemecanique FactoryCast module embeds human-machine interface (HMI) capabilities, such as email alarming, the ability to store user-created Web pages, data logging, and mathematical computations in a PLC. Module integrates a Web server that acts as a real-time PLC data server, letting information from Modicon Quantum, Premium, and Micro programmable logic controllers be displayed as standard Web pages in html format and accessed from any standard Internet browser.
No configuration or programming of the PLC or PC supporting the browser is needed to access the capabilities. FactoryCast HMI, which lets users view real-time process or machine information transparently, forms the core of Schneider’s Web-enabled Transparent Ready architecture. It gives the user a set of communication services based on Ethernet TCP/IP, diagnostic services based on Web technologies, and the ability to use an Internet browser for HMI.
Industrial PCs from Telemecanique include the Magelis Smart iPC, a thin client for Ethernet architectures, and Magelis Compact iPC, designed for embedding in compact machines or enclosures.
Schneider has also expanded its family of Telemecanique industrial PCs. Magelis Smart iPC, a thin client for Ethernet architectures, and Magelis Compact iPC, designed for embedding in compact machines or enclosures, are aimed at OEMs and industrial users looking for PC and touchscreen technology in a compact footprint.
Compact iPC is just 100-mm deep and features a high-quality graphic interface and easy installation and integration. It can be bundled with Telemecanique Vijeo Look SCADA software for a ready-to-use, all-in-one HMI solution. Smart iPC features a slim, thin-client display that has 67 mm depth and height. All components for Ethernet architectures are pre-installed at the factory. Transparent Ready Web-based display provides real-time data visualization using a Web browser and can be bundled with FactoryCast applets for real-time data monitoring. Both new products conform to UL508, CSA, and CE, and are rated Class 1, Div. 2 for use in hazardous environments.
