Schneider Electric unveils approach to sustainable manufacturing
Initiative builds on technologies and capabilities acquired via acquisition over the past five years.
Palatine, IL — Schneider Electric, a supplier of power, control and automation solutions, has completed a major acquisition and restructuring program designed to help customers achieve sustainable manufacturing operations. According to the company, this initiative has built a structure that gives Schneider Electric unique capabilities for delivering sustainable solutions in a wide range of industries.
Over the past five years, Schneider Electric has doubled in size by strategic acquisition of TAC (building automation), APC (uninterruptible power), Citect (SCADA/MES), Elau (packaging automation), Juno Lighting and many other companies to extend its capabilities to address the sustainable use of energy and other natural resources. The company claims these newly acquired businesses, paired with Schneider Electric’s global teams of industry specialists, enable the company to reshape the market and definition of sustainable solutions that offer practical and compelling commercial advantages to business partners and customers.“Each of our acquisitions has distinct critical functions and their platforms are all unique,” according to Jeff Jervah, director, Automation. “However, each business shares a common profile and commitment to smart sustainability.”An example of how Schneider Electric creates high value sustainability solutions is the work it has done with packaging manufacturer Optima, which partnered with the Schneider Electric Elau Packaging solutions team to develop an innovative SoftCan that saves space in transportation and storage. It also reduces material consumption by up to 80% compared to bag packaging with the same volume. For more information, visit www.schneider-electric.com .For related trends and news, see the Control Engineering Sustainable Engineering channel.
