To help serve cost-sensitive applications, Sealevel Systems Inc . recently introduced its SIO4-104 family of value-priced, four-port PC/104 serial I/O modules. Users can choose RS-232 or RS-422/485 interfaces that best match their application requirements.

Each model is designed to meet the needs of PC/104 applications that require high reliability, small size, and long-term availability. Various UART options and extended temperature range models, from -40 to +85 °C, are available.

SIO4-104 modules conform strictly to PC/104 specifications and support data rates up to 921.6 kbps in RS-422/485 mode. Interface is accomplished via a 40-pin header connector. Terminal block adapters and other helpful accessories are available.

SIO4-104 boards ship with Sealevel Systems’ SeaCOM suite of Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP drivers. Sealevel also includes WinSSD, a full-featured application with testing and diagnostic capabilities. WinSSD can be used for bit error rate testing (BERT), throughput monitoring, loopback tests, and transmit test pattern messages. Besides Windows drivers and utilities, SeaCOM includes application notes and technical details to simplify installations in Linux, QNX, and DOS.
