Detroit, MI— DPAC Technologies won the “Best of Show” product award for its Airborne wireless LAN node module at the Sensors Expo and Conference 2004, June 7-10, at Cobo Center. The award followed DPAC’s demonstration of the module being used in a wireless medical pulse oximeter developed by the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and serving in a wireless universal vehicle interface node from Cubic Systems.
‘We developed Airborne to enable OEMs to quickly and effectively integrate a wireless networking solution into their products,’ says Kim Early, DPAC’s CEO. ‘We’ve achieved substantial momentum with OEMs at the design level, and look forward to an increasing number of vol-ume production orders as the year unfolds.’
Cubic interactively demonstrated its SenseNet wireless universal vehicle interface node, which successfully applies wireless 802.11b technology provided by the Airborne module.
Meanwhile, the medical pulse oximeter was shown by Cal-IT2, a research and development arm of UCSD, which is funded by UCSD and the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in partnership with the National Science Foundation. Dolphin Medical Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of OSI Systems Inc., also contributed to the project.
DPAC provides embedded wireless networking and connectivity products for machine-to-machine communication applications. DPAC’s wireless products are used by major OEMs in the transportation, instrumentation and industrial control, homeland security, medical diagnostics and logistics markets to provide remote data collection and control.
