Programmable MEMS gyroscope from Analog Devices Inc. provides digital range scaling for industrial applications.

Norwood , MA and Rosemont, IL— Newest addition to Analog Devices ’ i Sensor family of highly integrated intelligent sensors is the ADIS16250 gyroscope. Low-power, highly programmable device contains all the embedded calibration, tuning, and control functionality required to detect the rate at which a system is rotating.

The gyroscope leverages the company’s i MEMS Motion Signal Processing technology. It requires less than half the design space of existing multi-component discrete solutions while offering more advanced control functionality. Applications include instrumentation, platform stabilization, and navigation where design flexibility and ease-of-use are critical.

ADIS16250 builds on the ADIS1620x family of i Sensor accelerometers. It is said to be the first MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) gyroscope to provide digital range scaling and embedded programmability, eliminating a significant barrier to integrating gyroscopes into industrial systems. Programming features are accessible via a standard interface. Output is pre-calibrated and indicates the rate at which the device is rotating. Sensitivity can be digitally scaled from
