Shell, Invensys division extend automation agreement

Shell International B.V. (The Hague, The Netherlands) and Invensys Intelligent Automation extended June 8 the global automation agreement established between Shell and Siebe Control Systems in 1996. Invensys Intelligent Automation is a division of Invensys plc, created by the recent merger of Siebe and BTR.

The agreement was expanded to include products from companies that joined Invensys Intelligent Automation since the original agreement was created. These firms include Wonderware, Simulation Sciences, Eurotherm, BTR’s flow control companies, and Foxboro’s SCADA system operations. The initial agreement covered Foxboro’s control systems, field instrumentation, control valves, and Triconex safety systems.

“This multi-faceted automation agreement is designed to reduce Shell’s total cost of ownership by 25%, supporting the cost reduction program recently announced by Shell,” says George Sarney, Invensys Intelligent Automation’s division ceo.
