Siemens enhances presence in oil, gas with purchase of Berwanger

Atlanta, GA — Siemens Energy and Automation has completed its acquisition of Houston-based Berwanger Inc. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Berwanger will become part of the oil and gas business of Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group , a leader in process automation and systems integration.

The purchase strengthens Siemens position in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. Berwanger’s expertise is expected to complement Siemens knowledge in the area of drive configurations, power generation and distribution solutions, and water treatment solutions. Berwanger will continue to operate from its Houston location. It employs approximately 185.

Berwanger is active in front-end engineering, plant services, and software. The engineering and software development firm is known for its process and mechanical engineering and software solutions including “Oil and Gas Manager,” a package for upstream concept selection and field development planning; “Pressure Protection Manager” for pressure relief system design and analysis; and UltraPipe, an inspection data management system.
