Alpharetta, Ga.- The Motion Control Systems business of Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. has introduced a specialized control software package for blow molding machinery to reduce machine setup time and waste.

The new software helps users to arrive at the appropriate thickness profile with minimum parameterization time and wasted material. In addition, the system performs open and closed loop control for all monitoring tasks, precise temperature, and cascade control. It also features parison head control for precise wall thickness, easy wall thickness setup, Screw speed control, and fast mold closing control. The system is programmable for continuous and discontinuous operations.

The software was designed to work in concert with the Totally Integrated Automation system from Siemens, a family of industrial hardware, software and networking equipment for precise motion control in blow molding and other plastics machinery. When deployed in a blow molding operation, the system can help prevent the trial-and-error process usually employed to find the relevant transient motion for proper heat and thickness profiles.
