To set a “new standard in e-business” and “create a new economy with substance,” Siemens AG opened Oct. 10 the first of three “Centers of E-Excellence” at this city’s airport. Heinrich Pierer, Siemens’ president and ceo, says the center will coordinate, drive, and integrate all the company’s e-business activities. The new center is part of a 1-billion-Euro investment, which will include a global e-business network linking all of Siemens’ 440,000 employees in more than 190 countries within a year. Two more Centers of E-Excellence will also be established outside Germany in Atlanta, Ga., and Singapore.
