Siemens AG reports that it has begun a “generation change” in its top management. The firm plans to replace Heinrich von Pierer as president and CEO with Klaus Kleinfeld, and appoint Pierer as the company’s supervisory board chairman, replacing Karl-Hermann Baumann, who is retiring. These changes will be voted on at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting in January 2005. Kleinfeld has been in charge of Siemens’ I&C groups.

In addition, Thomas Ganswindt, currently president of Siemens’ IC networks division, and Rudi Lamprecht, president of the firm’s IC mobile division, will be appointed full members of Siemens’ managing board, and elected to its corporate executive committee, effective Oct. 1, 2004. Ganswindt will then take over responsibility for the I&C groups from Kleinfeld, while Lamprecht will assume responsibility for Africa, the Middle East, and the CIS division.

Also, the company’s IC Mobile and IC Networks groups are scheduled to merge in October 2004, and be headed by Lothar Pauly. He is presently a member of IC Mobile’s group executive management structure.
