Model 240 V-Alert vibration meter from Balmac Inc. is said to take the guesswork out of vibration measurements. Meter features a green LED that illuminates when vibration levels are “good,” and a red LED when vibration levels exceed the severity guideline limit of 0.2 in./sec. Pressing the “measure” button puts the probe tip on the machinery surface and produces a vibration reading within seconds. Easy-to-read 3.5 digit LCD provides numerical vibration readings in velocity RMS and holds the reading for 30 s after the measure button is released. Model 240 is well suited for new motor, pump compressor, and fan installations. It is battery operated with an automatic shut-off to maximize battery life.
