Weidmuller RailDesigner 5.0 software is used for selecting, planning and ordering custom designed DIN-rail assemblies. The existing features of RailDesigner, combined with the new improvements in version 5.0, provide users the most comprehensive environment to design a custom rail, Weidmuller says. The new improvements include several data exchange enhancements, a real-time 3D plan and print option, a search and replace feature and an improved printing menu. RailDesigner 5.0 incorporates the largest searchable product database ever provided with the RailDesigner software, the company says.
The new data exchange capabilities and the expansion of the product database represent significant enhancements for users of RailDesigner. With a new integrated interface, importing data for terminals, cross connections, markers and accessories from computer-aided engineering (CAE) software is easier than ever. Weidmuller’s cooperation with most major CAE systems manufacturers allows for an increasing number of available data exchange formats with each new version – making RailDesigner 5.0 one of the most flexible programs of its kind currently on the market. In addition, the product database has been expanded to include hundreds of new products ranging from terminals and power supplies to relays and industrial Ethernet modules.
Exclusive to RailDesigner 5.0, Weidmuller says, is a new 3D plan and print feature that offers options for viewing a real-time 3D representation of a current project in three levels of detail. Users have the option of selecting a custom background color to create a contrast for optimal clarity, which is especially useful for rails populated with off-white or beige products. The 3D image can be rotated and turned in any direction to obtain exactly the right view needed, and can be printed or incorporated into a CAD system.
RailDesigner 5.0 offers users a familiar and intuitive experience, with standard Microsoft Windows functions, simple menu options and straightforward graphics. A brief multi-media tutorial included with the software demonstrates how to complete and order a custom rail assembly with jumpers and markers included. Other user-friendly features such as a customizable product library for frequently used items, an end plate wizard, and the new search and replace feature, save time and increase efficiency when planning a rail.
