ENC28J60 Ethernet controller lets designers create network and Internet-connected embedded applications with minimized board space, cost, and complexity. IEEE 802.3-compliant device offers features comparable to 80-pin packages in a 28-pin package. It uses an industry-standard SPI serial interface, which only requires four lines to interface to a host microcontroller, and includes the company’s free TCP/IP software stack for PIC18 microcontrollers. Applications include remote sensing/actuators, telecommunications, inventory management, and security.
