Solectron Corp. has agreed to sell its Force Computers embedded computing business to Motorola Inc. The two companies expect the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2004 (3Q04). Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Motorola plans to integrate Force into its Motorola Computer Group (MCG). Force and MCG both provide embedded computing products and services to OEMs in many applications.

Solectron also recently sold its Kavlico sensor products business to Schneider Electric for about $195 million. Kavlico designs, manufactures, and markets precision measurement and control devices, including pressure, force, position, and multi-function sensors that are integral to advanced electronics systems in the automotive, industrial, and aerospace markets.

The two transactions are part of Solectron’s previously announced plan to sell certain assets that are not central to its future strategy.
