Rosemont, IL— Billed as the first North American trade event to focus on electric automation technologies for industrial applications, the first SPS Electric Automation America trade show is taking place this week at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center near Chicago. The technical conference is being held on May 23-26, while the exhibition’s show floor will be open on May 24-26.

Show organizer Messe Frankfurt Inc. and its industry partners report that thousands of potential attendees have been invited to the event. This audience reportedly is responsible for designing, using, and buying products in all electric automation sectors. Messe Frankfurt adds that advance registrations indicate that attendance will be impressive, and also that buyers are coming with considerable budgets.

SPS Electric Automation America is the North American counterpart to the annual, Germany-based SPS/IPC/Drives tradeshow. This year’s SPS/IPC/Drives show will be held Nov. 22-24 in Nuremberg.

“Over the years, the SPS/IPC/Drives show in Nuremberg has changed from local to more global, but its focus on automation remains unchanged. I value the show for its richness in content and have made the visit an annual event. Better than ever, this show will take place in North America,” says Chris Choi, Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd.’s control engineering director. “I believe the automation industry on this continent will benefit from its high quality content to inspire innovative ideas and to speed up the path-finding of right solutions for their needs.”

Exhibitors and speakers also are enthusiastic about SPS Electric Automation America’s impact on the North American market. Gerd Hoppe, CTO of Beckhoff Automation, adds that, “I welcome the SPS show in America. It combines an excellent conference with a truly focused automation show, which was missing for a long time in North America. The conference offers valuable content about recent developments of automation technology and their application in the field. It allows engineers to network and exchange experiences and opinions about controls, motion, technologies and field application. The many high-end technology companies on the show floor gives a compact and focused overview of automation to visitors.”

Not only will visitors benefit from the show’s three-day conference program, but they’ll also be able to attend the keynote address by Jim Pinto, the innovative Technology Theater, and an evening networking reception.

The event’s Technology Theater reportedly is receiving support from exhibitors, who educating attendees about products and services. Exhibitors presenting in the theater include 3S-Smart Software Solutions, Agile Systems Inc., AS-Interface USA, B&R Industrial Automation, CAN in Automation, Contemporary Controls, EPSG-Ethernet Powerlink Standardization Group, EtherCAT Technology Group, Grid Connect Inc., Gross Automation, Harting Inc., Horner APG, Lumberg, Inc., Siemens Energy & Automation, TenAsys Corp., Tol-O-Matic Inc., TR Electronic, and Woodhead.
