To help users update manufacturing operation control system logic while it’s executing, Steeplechase Software Inc. recently released its Visual Logic Controller (VLC) 4.2 software with flowchart programming. This update capability, On-Line Programming (OLP), allows changes to be tested to determine validity. Meanwhile, the machine cycle is not interrupted and current flowcharts and RLL programs status are maintained.

Steeplechase also implements OLP in a way that protects overall production machine and control system integrity. One advantage of the flowchart language is its ability to automatically remember where the machine is in the process. Steeplechase OLP preserves that knowledge and doesn’t force the flowchart being changed to restart at the beginning when a change is made.
