Harrisburg, PA, and Germantown, WI – Making safe power terminations remains a high priority in industrial applications. To help, terminal blocks have more options on the high end, allowing higher currents and voltages with an introduction from Tyco Electronics . In addition, Wago Corp . DIN-rail-mounted terminal blocks now carry a 100 kA short circuit current rating (SCCR) with help from appropriate fuses. See photo. New high-power terminal block on 15-mm pitch from Tyco Electronics provides high-current capacity of up to 125 A and 1,000 V in a compact board-mounting configuration. Available in two through eight positions, the modular construction offers a 15-mm pitch to allow factory and field wiring to bring high currents to printed circuit boards for industrial drives and inverters, power supplies, and other industrial devices requiring high currents to PC boards. Individual blocks can be dovetailed to achieve a higher number of positions without losing the centerline spacing. The blocks, available with black or green UL 94V-0-rated housings, feature space-saving side wire entry and a rising cage screw termination, Tyco says. Two dual-pin through-hole connections per circuit help provide mechanical stability and ample contact to the printed circuit board to handle high currents. Built-in test points allow convenient measurements to be taken, company says. Custom markings are available.Units are UL Component Recognized and certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA)

Wago Corp. DIN-rail-mounted terminal blocks carry a 100 kA short circuit current rating (SCCR) with appropriate fuses.

Wago terminal blocks carry 100 kA SCCR: DIN-rail-mounted terminal blocks, ranging from the Wago 280 Series to 285 Series Power Cage Clamp, now carry a 100 kA short circuit current rating (SCCR) when used with appropriate fuses.SCCR originates from changes enacted by the National Electric Code and is represented as UL508A, Wago explains. SCCR ensures proper documentation of the maximum short circuit current a component, assembly or equipment can safely withstand when protected by a specific overcurrent protective device. A control cabinet’s SCCR is the same as that of a component with the lowest SCCR in the cabinet’s electrical distribution path. The new terminal blocks can be used with motor control, variable frequency drives, and control panels that require higher SCCR ratings, says Michelle Goeman, product manager for Wago terminal blocks & electronic interface.
