Master Lock recently upgraded its information systems with an implementation of Oracle Enterprise Asset Management , or eAM. It did so with the help of Signum Group LLC , an EAM systems integration and asset reliability services company.

Master Lock engaged Signum to help build a new maintenance system via deployment of an Oracle E-Business solution at its Milwaukee plant. Included in the upgrade was the incorporation of several other Oracle integrated modules including inventory, purchasing, maintenance parts, manufacturing, and labor reporting. The advanced functionality of the new system automates and integrates processes, providing Master Lock with the capability to proactively manage its assets and maintenance parts for increased efficiency and reliability.

According to Scott Whyte, business application manager for Master Lock information services, “Implementation of eAM was critical to a systemwide business process improvement program that helps us gain greater control of our assets and maintenance systems. With the improved visibility and reliability of this system—which includes up-to-date work orders, timely maintenance schedules, and precise inventory levels—we expect to realize tangible and intangible benefits.

Signum has supported delivery of more than 150 live Oracle eAM sites across a wide range of maintenance-intensive industries using SignumWay, its proprietary implementation methodology and accelerator tool kit, to optimize Oracle eAM deployments.

Says Signum VP of Professional Services Shelley Walker, “Effective asset management is essential to cut maintenance costs, reduce asset downtime, and improve productivity. Signum’s senior consultants collaborated with Master Lock staff to define their business processes and configure the system to achieve maximum functionality and give Master Lock access to information that is secure, reliable and current.”
