Two new instrument labs open in Europe

Fisher’s new valve lab in Cernay

Manchester, UK and Cernay, France – In July, Endress+Hauser and Emerson Process Management announced they had each opened new instrument laboratories, one for calibrating customers’ flowmeters, and the other for research on valve design.

Endress+Hauser says its new Manchester facility is intended to provide one-stop, quick turnaround for repair and calibration of a wide range of flow meters including transmitters with 4-20 mA and Profibus communications. The lab is said to be ideally suited for vortex, Coriolis, ultrasonic, orifice plates, electromagnetic, and positive displacement meters with traceable certification as a option for E+H products. The calibration is performed at ranges up to 100 m3/hr.

At the same time, Emerson Process Management says it has established a valve performance diagnostics laboratory at its Cernay, France Fisher Valve manufacturing facility. The lab will be used to conduct valve operability tests and loop variability calculations which are intended to improve performance design and provide data for future diagnostic analysis.

The lab, which is outfitted with Emerson’s DeltaV automation system, also performs other standard laboratory product tests such as flow, pressure drop, flow coefficients, severe service (cavitation and flashing), noise prediction, stem force and dynamic torque.
