VentureCom Inc. recently announced its support for Intel’s Pentium processors for embedded applications through Microsoft’s CE/PC program. As part of the CE Quick Start Program, VenturCom will provide a platform support package that enhances delivery of Microsoft Windows CE operating on Pentiums in embedded solutions. Windows CE is a pared-down version of Windows for small devices that operates much like Windows 95. By helping the embedded market use Windows CE, VenturCom says customers will be able to deliver multitier embedded applications, which are becoming increasingly common in the high-end embedded applications market. VenturCom adds that, by using Pentiums, customers will also be able to produce more reliable, robust, easily maintained solutions that are simple to scale between smaller Windows CE-based applications and more complex Windows NT-based applications.
