Vibration: Software suite, data acquisition helps machine analysis, monitoring, health

has introduced NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite Version 6.0 and the newest 16-channel data acquisition module for sound and vibration, the NI PXI-4495. A comprehensive NI collection of analysis and signal processing tools for noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), machine condition monitoring (MCM), and audio test applications, the new suite includes NI Sound and Vibration Assistant 6.0, application software that combines interactive, configurable data acquisition, analysis and data logging, and NI LabView analysis VIs.
The 6.0 version extends sound and vibration measurement capability with order analysis support in the Sound and Vibration Assistant and new LabView VIs for torsional vibration measurement and human vibration weighting filters. In addition, the 16-channel, 24-bit, DC-coupled PXI-4495 complements the PXI-4496 and PXI-4498 high-channel-count dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) modules.
The Sound and Vibration Assistant simplifies the process of acquiring and analyzing noise and vibration signals with a stand-alone, interactive analysis and acquisition environment. The software enables continual interaction with varying data analysis settings while logging data to disk for further analysis The assistant includes analysis features for NVH, MCM and audio test applications and provides analysis functions such as power spectrum, octave analysis, frequency response, sound and vibration level, tachometer processing, order analysis, and order tracking.
Suite 6.0 extends the analysis functionality of NI LabView software with torsional vibration and human vibration weighting filter LabView VIs. Monitoring torsional vibrations in a rotating system helps to ensure proper system operation. Measuring and analyzing human vibration signals can help control the negative effects of mechanical vibration in applications that are rigorous on the human body.
PXI-4495 is a high-accuracy, DC-coupled data acquisition module specifically designed for high-channel-count sound and vibration applications such as structural health monitoring, electrical power measurements and MCM. With 16 simultaneously sampled channels in a single PXI module, PXI-4495 is twice the density of any other simultaneously-sampled DSA device from NI. Engineers can use it in an 18-slot PXI chassis to synchronize up to 272 channels.
