Visualization, SCADA products, mobile HMIs, and displays were among the products making their debuts this month. Included in the offerings is a group of visualization products introduced by Iconics at ISA Expo 2003 and a selection of batch and pocket SCADA solutions from Citect .

Among several visualization products unveiled by Iconics at ISA 2003 is Version 8.0 of Genesis32 , the company’s HMI/SCADA and business visualization suite of software products (shown above). The new edition incorporates HMI data-mining capability and supports the latest OPC Foundation specifications, including OPC Data Access (DA) 3.0 and OPC XML 1.0. It also integrates new capabilities such as VCRWorX 32 and DataWorX 32. VCRWorX gives user a way to replay archived alarm and trend history into their HMI/SCADA visualization systems. DataWorX provides patented OPC data bridging, tunneling and aggregation capabilities.

BizViz Suite
of manufacturing and business intelligence products, also from Iconics, bridges the gap between manufacturing and corporate business information systems. At the core of the suite are data-mining and Web portal technologies that take advantage of Microsoft .Net and SharePoint Portal Server. The suite contains four products: ReportWorX, PortalWorX, Bridge WorX, and MobileHMI (shown above).

Three SCADA products from Citect include SCADA V5.5, Batch, and Pocket. SCADA V5.5 delivers a highly scalable and flexible system to reduce operating costs and improve productivity. New features make the system more intuitive and easier for operators to use, as well as simpler to install and configure.

SCADA Batch
(right) is a highly configurable, fully redundant batch management solution that helps users automate batch scheduling and operation. It also helps regulated manufacturers from the food/beverage, chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries comply with regulations. SCADA Pocket (left) is an easy-to-use PC-based operator interface that lets managers and operators remotely monitor and control their plant anytime, anywhere. The system uses wireless network technology to connect quickly and seamlessly to CitectSCADA, but requires no configuration changes at the SCADA end.

In other product news, the Datastick mDAS-223 3 data acquisition system was introduced at ISA Expo 2003. Sensor-based DAQ runs on the ruggedized Palm Powered Meazura handheld computer. Running Datastick’s Connection software, the device provides a complete PDA-based instrument for industrial, scientific, and environmental applications.

Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000 grayscale operator interface terminal from Rockwell Automation features a new display that provides an easier-to-read, sharper, vibrant screen and a long-lasting, field-replaceable backlight. The display is designed as a drop-in replacement for the previous PanelView 1000 grayscale terminal with virtually no additional programming or configuration.

X98000 family of new high-speed analog front ends for high-resolution flat-panel monitors, LCD projectors, and high-definition televisions operates up to 275 MSPS. Line of products from Xicor Inc . includes four additional devices operating at 240, 210, 170, and 140 MSPS.
