Winning SCADA implementation: Metro water of Southern California

Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California

has won the Innovators Award for 2007 from

Control Microsystems Inc. (CMI)

, global developer of advanced supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment and software. The annual award acknowledges the finest SCADA design and implementation program among Control Microsystems’ customers, the company says.

The Control Microsystems Innovators Award is given to the engineering team that displays the highest level of excellence and innovation in solving complex SCADA applications using Control Microsystems technology. MWD won the award for their unique work in developing a secure, state-of-the-art system for use in their resource management program including the distribution of fresh water over a wide area of Southern California, Control Microsystems said.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving 18 million people in six counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.

The award was announced at the Remote Monitoring and Networking Conference in Scottsdale, AZ. It is issued annually following a comprehensive review of all the major SCADA projects that the company has been involved with. A committee of engineering and product line experts decides who will be honored each year.
