Biopharmaceutical filtration automation project:
Though Cascade Control integrators expected to be working on the HMI system this past week, they found themselves having to develop a work-around solution when the workstations that development was supposed to have taken place on did not arrive as scheduled. To keep the project moving forward, the company’s Illinois-based resources developed static graphic displays that include the basic process equipment layout, piping connections, and device dynamos. Using these displays allows the San Francisco team to move forward with some HMI development, though not as far as the integrators would have preferred, as the device tags in the static graphic displays have not been verified because they were not developed against a PLC controller with the control module software that will be used on the project.

Wastewater SCADA project:
A site visit to Network Technologies Group to view their data centers helps QDS system integrators get a better vision about how to establish the data center for their project. Using a data center is key to this project’s success because it provides a clean, protected environment vs. the city’s wastewater central control room. Also, the data center location guarantees QDS Systems 7×24 access, an important factor in its three-year maintenance contract related to collocated equipment.
