San Rafael, CA — Autodesk Inc . has joined Rockwell Automation’s Encompass Partner program , enabling Rockwell brands, including Allen-Bradley (A-B), to use Autodesk Electrical, an industry-specific application for electrical-controls design work. Autodesk delivers technology that allows users to interact with 2-D and 3-D design information in the same environment.
AutoCAD Electrical provides a path for designers who use AutoCAD to design control systems or generate critical reports, such as a bill of materials, by hand. AutoCAD Electrical, part of the AutoCAD product family, automates many tasks for electrical controls designers in an intuitive and familiar environment.
The program contains libraries of A-B components to allow users to specify A-B content directly into a design. The process automatically inserts the correct part number and product information into a bill of materials, prevents design errors, and reduces data entry time. In one case, a builder of control systems for manufacturing automation used the program for a creation-and-review process, cutting design time in half and errors as much as 90%.
Encompass Program is a product referencing program that identifies, qualifies, and jointly markets third-party manufactured products that complement the products developed by Rockwell Automation.
