North Vancouver, B.C., CanadaBraintech Inc. announced May 1 that Vision Guided Robotic, (“VGR”) solutions ordered by ABB Inc. for a major auto maker have passed all tests and are ready for immediate installation. These solutions allow robots with “eyes” to pick engine parts out of bins and assemble them on a conveyor line.

Using 6 Sigma testing criteria and controlled by the auto maker engineers, the tests confirmed the solutions worked well and exceeded specification requirements under normal plant conditions. Braintech’s VGR solutions along with ABB robots are integrated into a completely automated assembly line.

Mr. Babak Habibi, president of Braintech states, “Of course this is a very important technological milestone for Braintech. These tests prove that our SC3D technology and our VGR delivery platform called “eVF” work. The efficiencies of VGR Automation will spawn a new era of manufacturing productivity and Braintech is first to deliver scalable, industrial-strength 3D-VGR technology.”
