Charlotte, N.C.- AlterSys Inc. announces Virgo 2000, a modular, PC-based process control and automation software suite that combines the performance and reliability of the QNX real-time operating system with connectivity and ease-of-use of Microsoft Windows NT. According to its developer, Virgo 2000 enables systems integrators, OEM’s, and industrial users to build high-end, real-time open control systems with crash-proof reliability and connectivity to corporate information systems. Intended for mission-critical applications, the suite of modules includes Virgo 2000 HMI, Virgo Workbench, Virgo 2000 Trends and Alarms, and Virgo 2000 Drivers that enable interoperability with other PLCs and competitive PC-based offerings for easy integration with existing operating systems. Also featured is the Virgo 2000 Virtual-PLC, or ‘virgo’ module, that enables users to replace one or more PLCs with runtime code executing on a PC-based controller. This is said to enable higher speed control on a given processor, or fewer processors for a given control task.
