Waltham, Mass. – Panametrics recently overcame barriers associated with the use of clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters for gases with the introduction of the DigitalFlow GC868. Designed for unlined metal and plastic pipe from 3 to 36 inch diameter, the GC868 uses Correlation Transit-Time detection techniques to achieve accuracy’s of +/- 2% of reading (+/- 0.5% repeatability) for flows over 6 ft./sec. when installed using traditional flowmeter installation techniques. Because no pipe penetrations are necessary, the GC868 is especially suited for metering applications involving erosive, corrosive, toxic, high-purity, or sterile gases as well as air, hydrogen, and natural gas. The GC868 requires about 20 watts of power at startup and operates on just 10 watts of power, making it suitable for remote solar-powered installations.
