Beckhoff Automation Beckhoff Automation’s CX1020 is a major enhancement to its high-end embedded PC. Where the original CX1020 design had a 600 MHz Intel Celeron M CPU, all models now feature a 1 GHz Intel Celeron M ULV processor. Networking: Ethernet stars in network growth
Growth in the world market for industrial networking is being driven by a substantial increase in the use of Ethernet-based technologies, according to a new report from IMS Research. Joint effort: Acquisitions enhance Beckhoff development capabilities
Enhancing its already strong capabilities as a maker of PC-based automation and controls, Beckhoff Automation GmbH , based in Verl, Germany, has acquired two Münster, Germany, companies: BeDeHa GmbH and Embedded-Logic Design & More GmbH (ELDM). Both are developers of embedded PC technology with long-standing experience. ELDM specializes in the development of PC motherboards, while BeDeHa distributes and adapts BIOS software. ISA 2002: Entivity partners with Phoenix Contact; Posco touts $6.25-million savings
Chicago, IL - Entivity announced nearby that Phoenix Contact will bundle PC-based solutions with Entivity Software; Entivity customer Posco (Pohang, South Korea) detailed $6.25-million in savings resulting from upgrades to its steel operations that included Entivity software. EBX displacing PC/104-plus in embedded shipments
Natick, Mass. - In a recent study entitled "2001/2002 Merchant Computer Boards in Real-Time and Embedded Applications," Venture Development Corp. (VDC) noted that board vendors projected substantial growth in shipments of EBX form factor motherboards during the period from 2001 through 2006. Vendors also projected that shipments of PC/104-Plus CPU modules would remain flat over the same period. These projections indicate a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20% for EBX shipments.

Pro-face America to purchase Xycom Automation

The deal is expected to close in mid-February 2001. Terms were not disclosed. Because Xycom has already been through a "right-sizing" over the past year, no further staff reductions are expected in the near future.
