In an expansion and re-organization that better supports more partners and offers more value-adding certified services for OEMs outsourcing hardware design, Kontron announced changes to its Kontron ETX Certified Design Partner (CDP) program. Originally started in 2000, the revamped program supports additional ETX design partners and also Certified Design Partners for ETXexpress/COM Express computer-on-modules, the microETXexpress X-board and DIMM-PC.
According to the company, the program changes were in response to growing demand for custom baseboard designs that support the latest technologies, including PCIe and multi-core. Computer-on-module products are useful for custom systems that need many special features.
Seven global members form the new community of certified baseboard designers supporting Kontron’s families of integrated computer-on-modules: Acces I/O Products, B-plus, Datakamp System, Diamond Point International, IES Industrie-Elektronik Schmitz, Wolf and World Micro. Additional companies are in certification process. Kontron is also seeking additional experts to develop dedicated solutions for industrial computing, communications, and defense applications, as well as mobile, multimedia, medical, and other emerging technologies.
Examples of the work done by Kontron’s ETX Certified Design Partners will be shown on Kontron’s “Wall of Fame” at the Bus & Boards Conference in Long Beach, CA, and at the Embedded World 2007 fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
