Flame detectors offer high false-alarm immunity, ATEX approval

Flame detectors from General Monitors are virtually immune to false alarms while sensing fires to protect people, equipment, and facilities in hazardous applications and industries.

Microcontroller-based FL3110 UV/IR and FL3111 UV-only Series detectors from General Monitors use ultraviolet and infrared flame-sensing elements.

Flame detectors from General Monitors are virtually immune to false alarms while sensing fires to protect people, equipment, and facilities in hazardous applications and industries. Microcontroller-based FL3110 UV/IR and FL3111 UV-only Series detectors use ultraviolet and infrared flame sensing elements and feature built-in flicker-discrimination circuitry and self-checking continuous optical path monitoring (COPM). ATEX-approved devices have a segregated increased safety wiring compartment to permit field terminations to be made without exposing the Ex-proof section to the elements.

Both models detect unwanted fires and provide alarm outputs directly from the detector while maintaining alarm immunity. Electronics are integral within the stainless steel explosion-proof housing, allowing detector information to be processed at the point of detection. The detectors are said to complement the company’s existing FL3112 flame detector, an ATEX-approved, digital frequency infrared device.

They are suited for a wide range of applications in the oil/gas, chemical, automotive, and aviation industry. Typical uses include offshore drilling and production platforms, refineries, fuel-loading stations, gas pipeline compressor stations, electrostatic paint spray booths, and aircraft hangars.
